The macroscopic sized parathyroid cyst is rare and 59 cases were reported until 1969 in the world, and only 2 cases were reported until 1972 in Korea. The pathogenesis of parathyroid cyst is not clear, but several theories are presented, namely,
1) embryological remnant of 3rd, 4th branchial cleft
2 )coalescence of smaller microcyst
3) cystic degeneration of parathyroid adenoma
4) Enlargement of microcyst due to retention
We report a 36-year-old female with a parathyroid cyst measuring 12X7X7cm which proved in histopathologically.
